I would definately spring for a new battery, I do not think I have ever had
one last more than four years. These long battery warranties are about
worthless beyond 3 1/2 years.. A healthy charging system  should yield about
one to two volts above the battery's charge. You may also be due for new
alternator brushes- these are normally good for 75k plus or minus 25k
miles..wish I knew more exactly... Yes a battery can be recharged in situ,
this is done all the time... Adrian the madman
