[Vwdiesel] 94 Passat

I'm going to look at a 94 passat this morning that may have a slipped timing
belt.
it still turns over, but makes a clicking sound, still seems to have
compression.
Will pull cover this morning and look at belt, check timing.

TD engine, no air cond

Question:
1-Is this a 1.6 or 1.9 engine?

2- Would my 1.6TD bolt in, and be enough guts to move a passat?

Looked at it in the dark last night and thought it looked like a 1.6.

I have one of each, primitive 1.6TD in the 87 jetta, and 1.9 with air in the
94 jetta.

Pump on the passat does not have the extra solenoid seen on the 94 jetta
that purports to change timing under light load.
