I believe the coolant level sensor actuates on open circuit, 2 probes in the
fluid close the circuit and turn it off. Also, the sensor relay does a short
test cycle at "ignition on".
Carefully check the connector on top of the reservoir for contact integrity.
Try shorting the leads together by stuffing a loop of wire into the
connector, and observe if the light goes out.
If yes, the problem is with the electrodes in the tank, if no, the problem
is in the wiring or the sensor relay.
Unscrew the electrode bung and look at them. They should be long enough to
both reach the fluid when at the normal level mark.
They may erode over time and get too short to reach the fluid.
