That's interesting. Since the CB antenna is actually
cut for a longer wavelength (27 MHz vs. 98 MHz), I
would think it would cause the AM reception to
improve. In either event, I always thought the
antennas on cars designed for both bands were too much
of a compromise, seeing that the frequency ranges are
so far displaced.
You can also buy an inexpensive amplifier for FM,
which significantly improves reception especially out
on the fringe.
