[Vwdiesel] 1.6TD -1.6NA crank and rods

I want to say, "YES", but in an SAE design paper for the VW TD they (the German design engineers) mentioned that the wrist pin bushing had a greater clearance to the piston pin for the TD as opposed to the NA.  Why would this be?

Are the rods and crank the same for a 1.6 TD and 1.6 NA motor?
