It isn't an ECOdiesel, but...........I bought my 1985 Jetta TD used in
January, 1988, for $6,000 and it had 30,000 miles on the clock. I had been
looking for that model for two years. Dealers only got one copy that year,
and many dealers kept it as a demonstrator, and then passed it around
within the dealer's family for the next year......daughter, son, brother, etc.
So, $6000 in 1988, and it is 12 years later. Conventional wisdom says
depreciate it at $500 a year and it would now be valued at zero. Actually,
I wouldn't sell it for less than $3,000 because it gets 40 miles to a
gallon and the fuel costs $1.40, and it handles and rides very nicely, and
has a huge trunk. It hasn't rusted, and the AC is the coldest I have ever
had on a car.
It may be the best automotive investment In ever made.
