  If he's talking about those ~1/16 inch holes then why bother with them.
Their purpose is to keep oil from pudding in the intake.  If they aren't big
enough then there's other problems!  Opening them up will serve no useful
purpose other than contribute to possible runaway in high blowby engines.
  I wouldn't say that these or any engine can't be improved on just because
it was "engineered."  There are manufacturing tolerances and compromises,
government agency compromises as well as things that might compromise
a little longevity for performance.  Although in a diesel, reasonable
performance enhancements generally improve longevity and efficiency.
Reason being that efficiency is usually what has to be improved to gain
other things.  :)
