[Vwdiesel] what fluid to use in power steering?

  Not sure about the synthetic but I do know that on the later systems
(about mid 80's somewhere) they went to the mineral oil whereas you
could use that, ps fluid or ATF on earlier ones.  If you use anything else,
it does cause seal failure.  Replacing the rack and a simple flush with
correct fluid seems to be good enough.  A cheap rinse, if you go with
non synthetic, is baby oil of all things!  I've seen a shop using it in a
system that was leaking and in need of a rack anyway but it worked
without making things worse!
