They're long enough to split the block if you don't clean out the holes!
The
problem, IMO is they should have added a few more bolts. A shared pair,
semi between the cylinders would've probably done it. 5 right between and
at the ends would've too but you'd have to pull the cam to get to the bolts
and the cam journals might have to be moved, which means redesigning the
valve layout and so on. Of course there's the cast iron head approach... :)
