i have a hard plastic tube hose coming from the brake booster to the
crankcase. i think that it might be damaged. it has a weird dimple in it
about 1/4 the way up from the crankcase to the brake booster. it almost
looks like the tube got warm and got pushed against something like the edge
of a large flat washer, leaving this crescent shaped dimple. its about 1/4"
deep.
its a local deformation. the rest of the tube is round and rigid. does this
sound right?

again, i have an 1985 golf. a/c, manual trans.
to further describe what i am looking at-
just above and to the right of the oil filter is a can like fitting on the
block with a short rubber hose.

rubber hose connects to a plastic part that looks like a small inline gas
filter with a couple of taps on it.

one tap is plugged, other one is plumbed to a hard green plastic tube that
goes into the firewall.

there is a short piece of flexible clear tubing (looks like vinyl aquarium
stuff) from the green plastic hose to the tap, making the 90 to go up.

at the end of the fitting is a larger, almost 5/8" diam black hard plastic
hose that goes to the brake booster.

this is the tube i am wondering about.

additionaly, the clear plastic that couples the green tube to the fitting
looks like its collapsed.

does this sound like its supposed to? the short piece of vinyl tube bugs me.
the dimple in the brake booster tube just doesn;t look right either.

thanks in advance

dennis
