I just did this. Replaced engine code MD (Quantum TD) into my Jetta w/ engine code
MF (Jetta TD). I used all the parts off my Jetta TD engine. Even the block numbers
were the same part numbers! So a Quantum block is indentical to the transverse TD
blocks, and have identical mountings as the NA blocks. So the fact it's from a
Quantum is irrelevant. So what it boils down to is what do you need to replace an
NA engine w/ a TD? How much of the motor are you getting? If its just the long
block you need: Injectors set to 155 bar, a TD injection pump, TD oil pan, TD
manifolds, turbo, both turbo oil lines, oil cooler and hoses, exhaust system (TD
is larger), air box, intake boot, TD valve cover w/ pressure regulator (ventelator
valve) and hoses. Its best to get the complete TD motor. Scrounging for all this
stuff is difficult.
