It has been a couple of weeks now since I went on my camping trip and towed
a trailer with my larger exhaust. Just wanted to let you all know how it
went. First of all my brother's trailer is slightly lighter than mine (1000
lbs loaded) and secondly the highest outside air temp we faced was about 86
so keep this in mind. Anyway we towed the trailer from Brownfield,Texas to
Silver City, New Mexico. We had to climb two small mountain ranges. On one
the elevation change was 4400 feet with the high point at around 8800 feet.
The distance of the climb was about 40 miles and the EGT never got about 850
degrees F except one time when we almost came to a stop behind a turning
dump truck and had to regain speed. The second climb was about 1400 feet
elevation change but it occurred in approximately 3 miles. ON this pass we
did touch 950 once but just dropped the speed down to 60 and dropped into
4th gear and the EGT fell quickly to below 850. On the way home we came a
different route and didn't go up so high but the climbs were much longer in
duration. Car never got above 850. All in all, I am pleased with the
results so far. Now if I can get the propane injection installed, I can see
what a difference that will make. Hayden
