Well I do not know if this helps, I just made a 1300 mile round trip
in '98 tdi Jetta, 706m2g with a tpl vhf amp 130w for simplex and a
TM-D700 for aprs, IC-24at with maha 302 docking booster sitting
on the passenger seat using mag mounts for all, no problems with
any qso's. I did have the cruise control drop out once. I was a
mobile intermod generator.

Go with a 5/8ths you will be much happier.

Averaged 73 mph with fuel use approx. 54mpg
