After developing appropriate skull callouses, you get the technique down.
I've had mine in the shop for some time now, been in and out of it lots,
call it dryland training... Working on it when I can, I almost have the
1.9td ready to light. If you have trouble getting in, train with it on
jackstands first, then work your way down from there:-))

Go over the strut towers with your magnifying glass on both inner and outer,
especially the lowest parts where moisture collects under the body sealant,
and rusts out.
Looks like about 75,000 miles on the clock, but

or gas 1.8's yeah. Only turbos around were done by owners. The only gas ones
came here from the USA, all Canadian caddy imports were 1.6D five speeds.
> Would my 1.6 TD fit? I know I have to change the engine mounts.
yes, Any A1 mount equipped engine fits. Even a 1.9 fits, all the holes on
the block and tranny are there for the early mounts, they are very backwards
compatible.

The question is what will you pay:-)) You have seen how rare they are. One
of the guys on the pickup list has a bunch he's selling right now, I just
deleted all the old mail, but I could find it for you if you like.
Locally, they go for 3000-ish cdn. Too much for mostly worn out trucks, so
I went to Colorado for mine, got a nice rust free gasser for a good body
donor. Only problem was the gas engine, but that's taken care of now.
Diesel 1.6 to 1.6td would be very easy swap.
Everyone must have sold their bumpers on ebay. I made one for mine too, but
steel tubing under an aluminum checkerplate skin.
