  Look at the differences in TBO (Time Before Overhaul) on any aviation
engine. TBO on a turbo engine is always less. It stands to reason, if you
are turning the wick up, your lamp won't burn as long! Pilots are trained in
the proper use of turbochargers and even NA airplanes are equipped with
pyrometers since you need to adjust the mixture as you climb. Turbos
generate heat and heat is the enemy of a long-lived engine.

 Fuel filter, maybe; air filter, not. A restricted intake would cause a rich
condition, not lean. Of course, the turbo wouldn't like to see the
restriction on the intake side.
