Interesting article. It's mostly correct except for the voltages. A car
battery has 6 cells, not 8. The full charge voltage is closer to 2.25
volts, not 1.68. 2.75 volts is the equalizing charge voltage and 1.60 volts
is closer to the end of discharge voltage than 1.06.
If a submarine battery bank followed the voltages in the article, the bank
would die rather quickly. I used to have a set of 6 of those cells on my
solar electric system. Now I have their baby brothers, "only" 800lb. per
cell.
