[Vwdiesel] AC woes

My '85's A/C system is absolutely leak-free and still
runs R-12. I have it slightly overcharged, I think, at
least I did about 5 years ago. One thing I've found
with a higher charge is that the compressor cycles on
and off quite a bit. Also, the condensor gets hot as
hell and the high-speed fan kicks on very soon.

BTW years ago when I had the receiver/drier replaced
at VW (the vent plug blew because the radiator fan
quit), they returned he car to me w/ the A/C
undercharged. Nothing but foam in the site glass in
operation. I put another pound in and I think my high
pressure was about 270, and it would not climb higher
than that, even if I put more R-12 in. I think the
system holds a little under 2 lbs.
