Well, I have to be hesitant about this advice. (right you are ED).
I did mention caution when using canola oil in previous threads. Not about
coking of injectors , but about GUMMING up the entrails of the pumps.
I have seen what is in there , very sensitive to jamming. Further I pointed out
the varnish buildup on frying pans and deep fryers.I have used canola and # 1
diesel 50% each . But not enough to give advice.
My latest and best advice is to use a heavy non-detergent single grade Auto or
aviation piston lube oil. How much to add ??? add to you start noticing the cost.
Seriously it is a moot question. How's about 1/2 a quart to a fill-up ?
Hagar.
PS: I seem to remember someone doing a cost comparison way back.
i.e. cost per fill using Stanadyne etc. simple to do. But remember to deduct the
price of 1/2 a quart of diesel , when using lubeoil.
