[Vwdiesel] Air in the fuel line problems

When my 82 VW na diesel did that, I found the air getting in at a crack in
a short section of the rubber fuel output hose where it exits the fuel tank
before the filter. The crack was invisible until I bent the rubber hose
about 10 degrees. The crack looked like it was made by a sharp razor blade,
but might have been just due to aging rubber and flexing over time.
Incidentally, it took me nearly a year to find the source of the air bubbles
