I don't know about rabbits, but in my jettas, the hot water comes out the
front of the head, into the top of the radiator.

I have experienced a situation (thermostat failure) where the water in the
engine would boil, you could NOT hold your hand on the top hose, it was so
hot, but the bottom rad hose was cool, due to no circulation.
