Yes "OCTANE" is the mother of a screwup , and the Cetane kid is one nasty=
little fella. Cetane testing is a pain in the rear end of regulators as we=
ll as Oilcompanies.
So we have one choice , to accept what they tell us.We have NO way of doing=
a certified sample test. Here is what I do -- I listen to the equipment an=
d soon a knack develops of telling when your rabbit is purring like a kitte=
n=2EAnd when it does NOT add Cetane improver. as follows :1000 vppm to st=
art with. Then double if that was it takes.Well worth it.If you do, it smok=
es less starts easier in the cold .I tell you if you ever get a bad fillup=
40 or below you will know what we are talking about. So carry a can of the =
stuff at all times.I rinse a small steel brakefluid can with srew on top, m=
ark it clearly LOL.First time I got a BAD fill , the engine smoked and made=
a racket, wound up pumping it out and fill it with better stuff. It purred l=
ike a kitten again.It was not the rabbit but a Kubota 4 cylinder.It applies=
 to all light duty diesels.
Answer -- consider every fill a 40 cetane and add to get it to 45.So what=
if it is a 45 ? not a problem it gets better. Some fuel is way higher.70 =
or more..Cost for improver ? depends on your chemical supply company but ma=
y be as low as 1.00Dollars US. pr pound. oh yes I do this for the FUN of it=
.Lots of purring around here. Hagar.

PS: Part 7 may follow.
