I'd like to pick your diesel minds about a problem I've had with my 84 vw
diesel NA. It was running fine for a long time, then one day no start.
It all boiled down to fuel not seeming to squirt at the injectors. I loosend
the nuts as the fuel line enters the injectors. Start and no fuel squirting.
Loosened it all the way, start and still no squirt.
Might be the stop solenoid. removed solenoid, tested it and seems ok. Just
to be sure, removed the plunger and spring and put the solenoid body back.
Start and still no squirt.
One funny thing is you see fuel flowing into the injection pump when you are
starting it. But once you turn it off, you see some bubbles flowing from the
pump to the filter.
Maybe a clogged fuel line ? So I remove the suction fuel line before it
enters the fuel filter. I put this into a bottle full of diesel. Start but
still no go. Maybe the return line is clogged ? SO I put the return line
into the bottle of diesel. Start, but still no go.
at this point, I think it is the injector pump. Have I missed anything ??
again thanks for any answer.
