[Vwdiesel] Crappy fuel?

    Naturally I didn't archive it, but I seem to recall reading a few years
back that there were concerns that the ultra-high pressure injection systems
on the next (now newer) generation engines wouldn't withstand the water and
other impurities in our fuel.
    I'd suspect that it relates more to corporate risk & litigation aversion
than greenie mythology.  We've heard of a couple of cases of VW not
warranting injection pumps on the 1.9 TDI in the states.  Whether that's
related to the quality of American fuel or an abundance of lawyers is
anyone's guess.
    Perhaps this presents an opportunity for an international comparison of
fuel quality and warranty terms.
