[Vwdiesel] Crappy fuel? (was Touareg)

The reason its not PCV on a diesel, is because there is no engine
vacuum. The vapors just get pushed out w/ the positive pressure of
blowby on the diesel. On gas engines, the "Positive" in the PCV comes
from engine vacuum purging the crancase with fresh air, in a positive
manner. Its a controlled/metered vacuum leak. At idle, when manifold
vacuum is greatest, the purge rate is so high (fresh air through the air
cleaner, into the valve cover, and another hose to the intake manifold,
below the throttle plate), the engine will not idle, hence the use of a
PCV valve to slow the rate at idle, The valve permits LESS flow thru it
as vacuum level rises. At WOT (Wide Open Throttle) the flow may even be
in the reverse direction, where blow-by moves thru the fresh air hose to
the air cleaner, since manifold vacuum is very low.
