[Vwdiesel] How many of you froze up?

-20c again this morning when I had to wake up my 91 TD jetta to go to
classes. Fuel was starting to gell a bit again. The car would start, but
not enough fuel to do more then idle. Nice thing is the new glow plugs
( just this fall ), and the 0w30 oil mean the car starts pretty much
instantly. Turns over fast.

Go around the car, scrap off the ice, and brush away the snow, and the
idle is starting to sound more normal.

No big clouds of white smoke, just the car stumbling. It doesn't have
the excess fuel to blow out as white smoke.

On my way to classes though, I saw quite a few diesel vehicles on the
side of the road. I felt terrible as some of them were TDI's, and likely
owners who had no clue about fuel gelling etc.

If I wasn't rushing to class I would have stopped to help. I have a few
cans of Kleenflo's isopropyl alcohol based ( I think I mentioned methyl
alcohol before, my mistake ) fuel conditioner in the tank. It can melt
gelled fuel, so I keep it around for emergencies. Normally its not
needed, and normal alcohol free stuff can be used.

...and I'm jelous of how nice it must be in texas right now. :)
