Make sure to brush the surfaces free of all dust and foreign material,
and USE NEW BOLTS - the Factory bolts are torque-to-yield bolts (stretch
bolts) and can only be used reliably once. Note I said 'reliably', some
guy s will say they used them again and had no problems for another 400,
000 miles, but we all know they are smokin crack :) If the head bolts ar
12 pointed triple square tey are 12mm and if they are 6 pointed allen
heads they are 11mm. you can order new parts from a variety of sources
including the dealer but I have had very good luch and technical advice
with www.vwdieselparts.com . In fact i thinkthere is a write up on this
page about changing the head gasket and how to tell.
