[Vwdiesel] Won't seem to start

Just bought an 86 Jetta diesel. It started fine for me the first couple
of times I tried after getting home but now it won't. I turn the key
and all the lights come on...I wait for the glow plug light to go
out....turn key and nothing! No click, no moans or groans...no
nothing! Is there some safety thing I'm overlooking that maybe I
was accidently doing before? I've played with the connections on
the starter in case maybe they were loose or bad. The battery is
brand new. Any ideas?
