Mike & Co.

Are you ready for some crazy but feasible ideas? ;-)

To find true TDC:

1 ) You could remove the sump...between 30 and 100 ;-) 10 mm bolts to undo...
2 of which next t othe fly wheel need a small socket set (1/4 inch)... This is
a bit of a pain but at least you can see the big ends and check the wear at
the same time and clean the pump suction foot gauze ..and check the pump (just
two more bolts) :-) With the No1 /4 pistons at top mark the flywheel...

2) Alternatively... remove No 4 injector and poke a length of copper elec.
wire down throgh the swirl chamber and slowly rotate the crank with a spanner
to find peak

3) This ones very novel ;-)... remove timing belt from cam Set no1 inlet or
exhaust valve completely open rotate engine with spanner until contact is made
! Partially close valve and advance crank a little further until contact made
again... close valve a little more...rotate crank ...You will find after two
or three adjustments the piston will just touch in passing ...TDC!! Mark the
flywheel and 'Bobs yer Uncle'...Or as Jimmy Saville would say 'Ows aboutt
that then Guys and Gals'

Mark (The Miser)UK "If I can bend it or glue it together ...I will " ;-)
