Having read many suggestions and conclusions here are mine :
Intake filter blocking is not it -- that creates smoke. The problem is no=
t timing , that creates smoke. Blocked exhaust is not it , he gets lots of =
boost. Not the govenor , he gets lots of RPM . He did not say where the=
maximum RPM screw is set ,thats the one on the throttleplate where the idl=
e screw is. It limits the movement of throttle movent when you push on acce=
llerator pedal.Set for max travel for now. =
I have no inf. on adjusting "spaceship" and I use the only one I got. So=
meone please let us know which way adjusting screw must be turned to increa=
se fuel,(calling Mark Shepherd). I presume the fuelling screw over rides t=
he automatic mixture system (spaceship).but I am not sure.
We are dealing with a 1988 Jetta 1.6L Turbo with 370 000 + km on clock .an=
d it is a canuck snow hare. (turtle) That means it has been exposed to cra=
ppy fuel and that puts injection pump on my target list. It means also that=
he is a perfect subject for proving my AD-100 arguments. Yes Mark Sheph=
erd viscosity vas exactly what I was aiming at. .
Mike Smith you asked how many horses ???? 68 according to VW owners manua=
l at 4500 RPM. Lack of poop with lots of smoke is one thing but lack of =
poop with no smoke that's a lot easier to troubleshoot. Mike you got to ge=
t her belching BLACK smoke.
Tubo works independent of "spaceship" so leave the line off manifod for tr=
oubleshooting. You must be able to get black smoke and lots of power without=
it connected. Have fun . Hagar.
