The spindle goes up and down...down is more fueling due to the cone on the end
allowing a perpendicular (at right angles to) fueling pin to move out (on a
spring loading) against theside of the cone. The cone is skewed so the
steepness of the cone (and so the rate of fueling increase for a given thrust
of the diaphram) can be varied. The diaphram thrust itself can be altered with
the star tensioner underneath diaphram...I believe the top lock nut and stud
alters the initial start position of the fuel boost The diaphram is usually
set about mid point with regards the steepness of the cone...there is a
corresponding dimple in the rubber as a reference guide...
On the other topic; I thought it strange to be going for an Austin Mini... I'd
go for an original Mini-Cooper...Italian Job style
And on the final topic...I think the 'Thinkers' need more feedback from the
'Ah Yessers' to help the 'Thinkers' fine tune their thinking and make the
threads on this data base come to useful conclusions....Huh?
