Yep, another reason the engine oil is pretty black
right away. If I raise the front and drain it all out,
the new oil is straw colored for a few days!

I pretty much change brake fluid like Sandy does. I do
pump the pedal slowly to swirl up the fluid in the
lines a bit. I just put a clear hose on the bleeder
bolt and let it flow into a jar.

I only clean out the plastic reservoir if its got
black crap on the bottom.

I figure just having fresh fluid is a big plus. Almost
nobody ever changes it.

I too still have the original calipers, never been
rebuilt ('85 Jetta), but replaced my MC last year for
safety reasons only, the old one (original) worked
fine, though.
