It's been awhile since I used it, but www.adbusters.com or
www.junkbusters.com (can't remember which) has a cut-and-paste script to
reply to spam with. There's provision in one of the federal
telecommunications law that allows you to bill spammers for your time that
they waste. Of course, tracking them down and hauling them to court is a
different matter, and it would be hard to enforce in Canada.
Yahoo makes it extremely difficult to prevent spamming on their groups.
The list owner must remove each offending listee, and individual spammers
often use multiple addresses. If one sneaks into a list and isn't removed,
several more start in. If the owner has dropped out, Yahoo's solution is
for everyone to drop from the list and start another one.
