For the small washers use a very "soft" flame   ----propane or alcohol.  Ke=
ep washer completely in flame  till you get the most incredible copper colo=
r ---then without hesitation drop in cold water. Then install as soon as yo=
u can.    No it is not like steel ---steel would go hard . To anneal steel =
--very slow cooling is the way.    Some metals harden at room temperature s=
o those are usually kept in freezer till use (Rivets etc.)     Most metals =
work harden --if hammered or drawn or bent. In this case the " Timing plug"=
  it is a good idea to anneal every time. The banjo fittings are not as cri=
tical -- after doing about 100 without leaks I do not worry no more.(anneal=
ing them too is better)     Good old shine does the job every time.When I s=
aw the "spray" story I had a distributor sitting by the keybord , and no wa=
y could I cross-thread that plug, so that is not likely the problem.   As  =
to the 3 cornered fasteners  piece of cake.  Use 6 sided socket and  nailpo=
lish a filler piece on one flat ---small nut or roller will do. When I take=
 injection pumps apart a roller from a spicer universal is used.     Rememb=
