For using a dial indicator in inches, just convert.
One inch = 25.4 MM, so a timing spec of, say 0.96 MM =
0.037795 inches (0.96 MM divided by 25.4 In./MM),
round to 0.038 inches for easy reading, which = about
0.965 MM.
Yes, I'd do a compression test to rule that out.
Are the brakes dragging? Jack it up and rotate each
wheel. Are they free?
Was it possible you got gasoline (or diesel w/ alot of
gas in it) from the diesel pump?
