Well, I got back to the car with my donor TD engine today. I checked the
VIN and it breaks down like this:
Volkswagen & Audi VIN decoder Version 1.11, September 2000
VIN Number: WVWGH0165GW855925
Model Year 1986 (G)
Model Type VW Jetta 88 (16)
Model Style VW Passenger car made in Europe (WVW)
Body Type 4 door Deluxe (G)
Engine Type Highest Horsepower for model (H)
Rest Type Active Restraint (0)
Plant Made Wolfsburg (W)
(courtesy of: http://home.earthlink.net/~megantic/vwvin/VwVinApp.html)
It looks good for $200 too. The odo shows 209K on the clock.
I also found the glow plug relay...submerged in the water in the
footwells...damn, guess I will need a new one (the sunroof was left
open. I closed it). I wish the lot owner did not leave the sunroof open
though. Those WERE nice seats and I could have put them in the Rabbit.
The relay has the following things written on it:
Schier Electronic (Mfr.)
Gluh-Zeitautomatik-Relais (glow relay, auto timer)
12 V (duh)
24.4100.10 (not sure here)
Made in Germany
On the back it had the following:
X7
Can anyone tell me if it's the fast glow for sure from that info? I know
I've had a couple of hints, but I was hoping for proof positive.
Mikey

Just pull them out till you get the one. Its rated at
like 50 - 60 amps. Its the only one w/ a rating like
that. Should be printed on the case
