Mikey  Hitch          and All interested.  ---  mikey  I read your threads =
about starting a 1982 Rabbit --next time you will do better.
When working on injection   -- make sure you flush white Teflon tape down t=
he toilet (in small pieces), Never put fuel directly into a Rabbit diesel e=
ngine   absolutely the worst you can do. Checking timing is a piece of cake=
.No need for dial indicators at this stage.Take VC off make sure  # 1 valve=
s are closed (lobes are off valves) and flywheel  zero mark is right on poi=
nter.Then look at Injection pump sprocket the timing mark, it must line up =
with timing line on pump.   Then make sure back end of car is higher than t=
he front.Then take the top banjo fitting off (be super clean) fill to the b=
rim with fresh diesel .At this stage do not use Bio or old veggie oil.Get f=
resh diesel from a station.
I did one yesterday from scratch  --it sat for sure from before 1990. Start=
ed on first try.It is sitting on a piece of plywood in the driveway  being =
cooled from a 20 liter plastic bucket full of water. Observations ???   at =
about 1000 RPM smooth and quiet  , has no exhaust manifold on but makes les=
s noise than many gas jobs with pipes on.    It heats up a bucket of water =
likke de split.  And water pump has next to no ability to push water at idl=
e=2E I was right to speed up water pump on the one I am going to drive.(eas=
y to do on 1.5 L). Keeping the head cool is the issue, that's where a lot o=
f troubles comes from due to overheating.At 150 dollars Can plus a head gas=
ket did not expect a NEW engine and this one is going to be sold -- not goo=
d enough for my "Bunny Blue". So tomorrow we try number two (yes sat next t=
o this one since 1990) . Comments are welcome.    Hagar.

PS:  Oil flow surprised me , goes with the low oil pressure spec.(Idiot lig=
ht setting 2.1 PSI).
