[Vwdiesel] Great cars, using a little oil

Don't know about "normally."  Mine lasted until 2002, probably more than
200k miles. Replaced tie rod assemblies on both sides, as there was
noticeable play in the steering.
Replacement corrected this condition. Each side was about $45 USD for the part.
