Hagar: Check to make sure you did not bend the part
that is welded to the door.

I've wondered about that too. I think Loren said how
to do it. I think the pins are driven in/out with a
punch and a BFH, (err... a big hammer). My hinges on
the driver's side are just plain worn out, even though
I oiled them monthly! BTW, the VW dealer wanted
something like $45 US dollars for each of the two
hinge and pin sets! That's $90 to replace the hinges
on one door!
