   I'd be very, very careful trying to pound it loose. Of course you have to do
a little pounding, and the piece of wood you use against the piston top should
be a round log section just a bit smaller than bore size. But you can bend a
connecting rod pretty easily -- I know, I've done it.
   Best to use a torch if soaking it and a couple of sharp raps doesn't break it
free.
