We used black powder, sprinkled among the firebrick, just before the teacher
was going to give a demonstration on gas welding. Makes for some interesting
effects.
 The year after I graduated, the metal shop teacher had a heart attack and
died. I have no doubt in my mind that us kids were a contributing factor.
