When I read a thread from someone quoting  2700 dollars US as price from VW=
 dealer. For a turbo unit . It was no turbo for this geezer,period.But what=
 to do if you snare a Rabbit with a turbo ????.-- Here is what Hagar has do=
ne all his life.Find someone who are knowledgeable --Thank you Lord for cre=
ating Bill Gates.(no I am not a religious fanatic) The PC and a lousy phone=
line is a godsend here in the sticks.WOW.
Ok it is a Garrett exhaust gas turbine driving a air pressure impeller. Boo=
st   about 10 psi overpressure.(a lot),
Aneroid on top of injection pump responds to increase in boost.(more fuel a=
s pressure increases)..Wastegate regulates boost.(like a pressure regulator=
)=2ENever driven or seen a turbo Rabbit before, so how does one know what i=
s normal?  . Incredible power on first spin. And lots of smoke. 1984 Turbo =
? how long do these things last ?. 251 000 Km.on clock. Does the turbine ne=
ed cleaning at times ??.---Fools and questions ???? you bet. Ah yes as soon=
 as brakes and tranney is ok ---the turbo will be tried again.By the way --=
if turbine is doing 100 000 RPM how fast does the air impeller turn ???? --=
is there a gearbox in the turbo ???.
For Mark Shepherd  ---   EZ outs  --  to anneal ? not practical for "amateu=
rs"   .Easy outs ???? reminds me of Easy crosswind landings.  If it is easy=
 you do not have a crosswind in my book.
Haydon   your idea of using torx bits as screw extractors is great .I shoul=
d have thought of that. I shall use Bristol bits in the future.(Bristol wre=
nches are like splines).   For fun I have a Garrett pelton wheel turbo usin=
g Ethylene Oxide for fuel.--top that one (its a Genset) (APU).    have fun =
