Well this morning someone rear ended my nice cherry
1985 Jetta TD while I was stopped in traffic. Just the
bumper is messed up. I need to replace the left rear
bumper bracket and the metal bumper piece under the
plastic cover (it twisted). I can reuse the outter
cover. I plan on "borrowing" the bumper and bracket
from the other '85 Jetta TD I recently bought, but do
not have on the road yet, then I'll search the bone
yards at my leisure, or have a body shop pull the
bumper straight.

Bentley refers to a special purpose tool to either
remove or replace the bumper cover on its metal
backing. Is it needed, or is there an easier way to do
this? How difficult is this whole job? The body shop
gave me a $465 estimate which I mailed to the driver
that hit me. Tx.
