[Vwdiesel] 83 diesel into 84 Vanagon

My 205/65/15's work fine with my westy, but the 215/70/15's I tried on there
gave it a bit of problem taking off. You had to really be careful with the
clutch/gas, and I had the feeling that the clutch would die an early death. Plus
my wife didn't like it at all, she just hates anything that you have to do
something *special* to make work.
Those tires (the 215's) and the mercedes 15" wheels, came off my '73 westy
which had an '81 vanagon engine in it, and worked great, even with a special
taller 4th gear tranny. I could cruise at 80 no problem, even do 85. I was quite
surprised when the '82 diesel westy couldn't pull them well, since that tranny
is much lower geared.
