[Vwdiesel] 1991 ECOdiesel Mods: Advice ?

Hi all,

I'm considering doing the following to my ECO:

1. The"  weighted shifter " upgrade - I remember hearing that the newer style
shifter could be installed with relatively little expense/hassle...The local
VW Parts Guy tells me yes, but I'll have to buy an " aftermarket adapter " to
allow the new style shifter to fit. True ? Any advice and/ or parts sources
would be appreciated.

2. Add rear disc brakes: Anybody done this ? I'd like to have the dealer or my
VW Diesel Guy do it....Which parts/ sources to use ? Any aftermarket parts
that would work better w/o costing a fortune ? I assume I'll need to replace
the master cylinder ? How many hours might it take a competent person to
install ?

That's enough for now....I'm close to being able to get a newer TDI to replace
this one as my " corporate car" , and I'd like to do these mods while the ECO
is still a tax deduction.....
