Many mail programs can open unix mbox format natively, Pegasus Mail is one - see:
http://www.pmail.com

I have an archive from another list in mbox format with ~100K messages that open
in Pegasus Mail.

ps: Since you're using Outlook, you might also appreciate that Pegasus is immune
to virus and trojan attacks... ;-)
