 I'll add my $.02....

 I'd rather pull the axle and use a one-piece than use one of the "quick
boots". I have seen them come apart before, and you really should clean and
inspect the joint if the original boot has ripped, anyway. If you don't want
to mess with all that, most auto parts stores sell entire rebuilt axles,
assembled and complete with both joints and boots, on an exchange basis. Of
course, I have seen some of these that were not what I'd call top quality,
either, but it's another avenue.
