[Vwdiesel] power steering fluid for 88 Jetta GL TD ?

Hi All,

Still haven't gotten around to buying a Bentley manual, nor do I own any
other books on my 88 Jetta, 1.6L turbo diesel. zilch.
I need to please know what kind of power steering fluid goes into the
container by the rad.  My rack is leaking. PO told me about it, but today
the pump started squealing and the fluid level was down quite a bit. Car
harder to steer than normal.  It appears to be a clear fluid of some kind.
I have some power steering fluid here but it's a blue color.  I also have
some ATF fluid, which is equiv to dextron III and it's a red color.

Advice?!
