Those old(senior?) Rabbits refuse to die ---Welders , Gensets , Irrigation
pumps , Pumping out the basement , hell I could go on all day. Hagar.
PS: I am going to use one on a chipper.and Sawmill ?.
Where I used to work, we used large quantities of liquid nitrogen. It was
delivered by the tanker truck load, and the tank trailer had a VW diesel
driving the nitrogen pump. After they hooked up the hoses, the driver would
fire the pump, let it idle a minute at most, and then set the throttle to
what sounded like max rpm. It would run at that speed for 20-30 minutes, and
then be shut down. The noise was deafening, you couldn't approach it without
hearing protection. After they left, there would be a circle of soot on the
pavement where the tailpipe pointed down. :-))
When I went to auto tech school, we had a VW diesel on a test stand,
supplied by VW with all kinds of training materials. I wish I had spent more
time with it, but at that point in my life I was more interested in
V-8s.....
I've seen these same engines used as cogeneration plants for people's
homes, supplying electricity and hot water. Very cool.
