thrust by the cam pushes the same volume of fuel every time...What changes is
the position of the bleed off sleeve that alters with
1) the throttle position,
2) a speed dependent centrifugal governor
3) the power screw and
4) in the case of the TD pumps with the aneroid; the rod and lever behind the
diaphragm controlled by positive feed back from the turbo... hence the surge
of power after pedal depression, which allows slight relax of pedal pressure,
once boost has commenced.
Increased pump speed also increases internal pump pressure which advances the
'cam followers' giving earlier fuel injection commencement and coupled with
thecorresponding longer fuel delivery before 'bleed' takes place, extends
fuel delivery either side of TDC
Just my 2 cents worth.... (costs about 3 pence over here!!)
