Something else to consider...

The N-S(north-south) Audi auto tranny was a transaxle, i.e., with common
housing for tranny and diff. However, the diff and tranny used different
fluids. The tranny used typical auto stuff, the diff used typical hypoid
oil. There was a seal that separated the trans from the diff. This seal
was notorious for failing, filling the diff with auto tranny fluid.
Expensive to fix.

If you get an Audi, I have nothing against them except for this design
flaw, get the manual tranny version.

Also, you will hear stories of the "Unintended Acceleration" problem
with these cars. People claimed that the car would accelerate
uncontrollably even though they were standing on the brakes.

Total Hogwash!!! I have yet the see a production car with an engine that
would ever over-power the brakes. Studies have concluded that these
people were indeed standing on... the gas pedal!

Audi's are fine cars. My VW Quantum was a very close cousin to Audi and
shared many parts.
